Full Restoration
At The Splined Hub, our team of dedicated technicians will restore around five Jaguars per year. We carry out our restorations using our extensive knowledge of automotive design and engineering. We are unusual in the classic car industry in that we are very process driven, ensuring that each car that we build is stripped, catalogued and reassembled in as consistent a way as possible. This also allows us to minimise rework, standardise build time and generate a “right first time” culture in our workshop.
Equally, our suppliers know the standards to which we work and everything we fit to your car is sourced to meet or exceed original Jaguar quality. Where component quality issues arise, which is inevitable, we work with our suppliers to establish a long-term solution.
We optimise the use of our team skills by using local partners for specialist activities such as paint, fabrication and machining. Outsourcing these activities allows us to maintain a clean working environment for final build, while giving us total control of overall quality. On completion of each car, we carry out extensive testing to ensure that your enjoyment of your new car is as trouble-free as possible.
We can give your newly restored Jaguar a number of features that were not available in period, while ensuring that the original structure and fabric of the car is not compromised. This means that you can really use your car in the modern environment and we have a number of customers who will think nothing of embarking on road trips of several thousand miles in our cars. These options include brake upgrades, sound systems, heated windscreen, upgraded cooling and different wheel / tyre options.

Specialising in 1960’s Jaguar, our service centre can provide all the services required to maintain and improve your car. Whether you’re looking for a basic annual service, or an engine rebuild, we have the skills and knowledge required to provide the best possible care. Using only high quality original Jaguar parts, and with a competitive hourly rate, keeping your Jaguar on the road with us is the best thing you can do for it.
Annual Service & MOT
We offer all levels of servicing for your classic Jaguar. From an annual oil change and check-up to a right hand drive conversion or gearbox upgrade, we offer a comprehensive range of services to suit your requirements. We aim to give an excellent service (always accompanied with a tea or coffee) and for the larger projects we will always provide a clearly defined estimate before commencement of work.
Interiors
If your Jaguar interior is looking tired, worn and uninviting, talk to us we have a range of interior restoration options available to breathe love into your Jaguar’s interior.
Electrical
We are now able to offer a very wide range of sound systems for your Jaguar, from the standard radio reworked for modern function, through to the new Jaguar Infotainment system which we offer with our own bespoke speaker and amplifier setup. Engine Rebuilds
We have various levels of engine rebuild available, from a rebuild of your standard system, up to a rebuild with performance improvement.
Gearbox Rebuilds
Jaguars imported from the US often have a lower differential ratio than their European counterparts. To get the best out of your car on longer trips, we recommend changing the differential and / or gearbox to give better drivability and economy. With a wide range of options available, we can tailor our solution to suit your exact requirements.
Rear Axle Rebuilds
We have various levels of axle rebuild available, from a rebuild of your standard system, up to a rebuild with performance improvement.
Vehicle Upgrades
Our extensive experience of E-Type restorations puts us in the perfect place to provide a range of improvements and upgrades for your Jaguar. From electronic ignition and improved braking, to full fuel injection systems, we can give you a broad range of enhancements to improve your modern-day Jaguar’s performance. All our modifications are reversible so that the value of your car is unaffected.
Brakes
“My original E-Type brakes are fantastic” - said no one, ever. Our restorations now come as standard with our own performance brake calipers and ventilated discs fitted to the front axle, with fresh piston assemblies on the rear. If you’re looking to improve your Jaguar braking system (and lets face it, why wouldn’t you be?)
we can offer a multitude of options to help you stop as well as go.
Air Conditioning
Too hot? How about some aircon? An increasingly popular option with our clients who use their cars for continental touring, we can now offer air conditioning upgrades for existing cars. There are a number of options available, all based on the same basic system, but with different air handling options within the vehicle.
Fuel Injection
Performance and efficiency: While the original carburettors look the part and perform adequately, there is no substitute for 60 years of further product development. Available for the six-cylinder and V12 engines, our fuel injection systems eliminate the need for frequent maintenance while optimising the performance of your Jaguar. Particularly in the case of the V12, which could barely breathe with the standard setup, this system dramatically improves performance. Because the ECU precisely controls ignition timing and fuelling, there is no need for a distributor or standard coil which means everything performs much like it would on a modern engine. The fuelling even adjusts itself to adapt to your driving style.
Heated Screens - front and rear
Can’t see? Car misted up? We now offer high quality Triplex branded heated windscreens to compliment the original Jaguar rear heated window. As the E-Type cabin is quite small, it is quite susceptible to misting in poor weather. With a heated windscreen you will literally forget that this was ever a problem.
Sound System Upgrades
From a simple bluetooth amplifier, which is invisible and has no impact on the interior of the car, to a seven speaker sound system with Jaguar Classic infotainment system, with separate power amplifier and subwoofer, we can cater for a vast range of demands and musical tastes.
Heated Seats
Up in the Alps with your E-Type? Bit Chilly? Heated seats are now an option in both series 1 seat variants, along with all series 2 and 3 cars. We recommend a complete re-trim of the seats to best take advantage of this option.
LED Lighting
A dramatic improvement over the original lighting, LEDs also use considerably less power, putting less strain on the charging system. In particular the instrument lighting is literally like night and day, and we remove the filters in the instruments so that everything is the same colour of warm white. On the road, the improved rear lighting is a significant improvement in safety as the original lights were virtually invisible in anything other than perfect weather conditions. Now that headlamp bulbs are also available, we have a complete LED lighting solution.
5-Speed Gearbox Conversions
Before discussing 5-speed conversion for your E-Type, ask yourself why. If you’re looking for more relaxed cruising at motorway speeds then the 5-speed conversion is definitely a good option. Our conversions fit the car perfectly and put the gear lever in exactly the same place as the original. With a taller top gear, fuel economy is also improved.
Turrino Wheels
Hand-made in Northamptonshire, these wheels represent the absolute highest quality available. For the E-Type, we recommend the 16 inch version, which gives the car a slightly different stance and improves roadholding over the originals.
